| Raising the Horseman | Serena Valentino | Fiction/Ghost Fantasy | Young Adult | I loved the reimagination to the classic Headless Horseman story and how it centers around a young teen "Kat Van Tassel". It is also adapted in a modern setting (cellphones/texting) which differs from the classic, old version of the headless horseman. It is not so scary, it was more of a thriller to me and it made me want to keep reading. There is also a "twist"/touch of feminism and LGBTQIA+ positivity throughout the story which was interesting to see in this adaptation. |
